PROJECT RUNWAY WII

been so busy with my portfolio that havent had much of a chance to update my blog.
Project runway its one of my favourite TV shows.... very very excited to see it on WII.
I am not very much fan of computer games.
BUT THIS game is enough for me to buy a Wii to play.

according to recent press reports. It will feature the show’s key talent, Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Michael Kors as well as the top eight contestants from season six including reigning Project Runway winner Irina Shabayeva. In addition to the core reality show competition, the Project Runway videogame for Wii will include a variety of fun, family friendly game features inspired by the content from the show.
These include: an interactive garment studio a fashion career mode hair and make-up studios a Wii Balance Board-compatible catwalk game a feature where the player can take part in high-profile fashion shoots and take on the role of a fashion photographer. All fun and family friendly game features are based on the content from the show.

as I've said before I am not into computer games.. but a Wii and this game could be a very good birthday present this year lol

Would YOu wear- a wrap skirt with Vinyl Tights+sandals?

I am usually open minded about new fashion trends.
But After seeing Givenchy's Fall/Winter Men's collection, I ask myself whether a new trend which Riccardo Tisci presented is Chic or is it just being dramatic for the sake of it.

My first reaction was wow- Men's skirts really is becoming fashionable- another door have opened for men's clothing. Then I throught about it, something about the material and the cut of the skirt doesnt feel quite right- There is a fine line between being androgynous and looking like you put on something from your mother's/girl friend's/sister's closet. This almost feel like its crossing over- esp when its paired with the tights and the sandals and the suits.

Maybe its just the shiny fabric- or the lack of "masculine" elements- no belt or strong lines or heavy fabrics to make it feel masculine.

My conclusion to this is- it IS crossing boundaries. And its refreshing to see men's fashion opening up and stepping out of the box, and when its paired with the t-shirt or just the shirt, it IS kind of chic. But i am NOT sure whether personally i would wear it- the wrap skirt silhouette is just way too feminine and I dont think i will wear it with the shiny tights and the sandals.

What do you guys think?

Shoe-gaism- Balenciaga S/S 2010

Shoe-gaism
A word which some of my fds use to describe my reaction when I see fabulous shoes which I love.
I have to admit- I do have a slight fetish of Tall/Unwalkable but architectual heels.
Not necessarily of the women in them- My favourite past time after a bad day is to go to the ladies shoe department of David Jones or Lane Crawford (when I am in HK) and lust over the beautiful works of art.. I know this is freaky- but hey- if i am not lusting over the women's feet in the shoes- just the shoes sitting there on the shelf then its TECHNIQUALLY not haressment of any sort rite? unless you can call it "shoe harrassment".. LOL

Anywayz... first shoe-gaism of the year goes to
These BEAUTIFUL shoe-boots by Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2010.

They are sooooo beautiful
The tribal printed fabric mixed with a very classic leather boot silhouette.
CRAZY about the braided nylon edge on the platform.
I also love the shape of the heel- reminds me a little bit of a bone.
Also they are only 10cm- a considerably walkable height..
These are the PERFECT boot for summer- for those like me who cant live without boots.

Trying to decide whether i have the guts to at least try them on.. or get a pair as a sculpture for the home..

One more thing: many ppl ask me why do I like these shoes which are vertually unwalkable/not comfortable etc so much..

My response is:

'cause if you see them as an everyday shoe- then they may not be FUNCTIONAL
But if function of fashion or any piece of garment/accessories is not to cover yourself- its to give you confident and smile and feel good about yourself on a bad day- then these unwalkable shoes performs that function very well.

Also i believe shoes is a multifunctional object- not only they are for wearing- they make brilliant sculptures for the home- especially your coffee table... lol

Empress Fantasy- Guo Pei Haute Couture F/W 2010

With Hong Kong Fall/Winter Fashion Week just started on Monday, decided to do a post on a Collection which I find very very inspiring.

Guo Pei is a Haute Couture designer based in China.
Found some pictures of some of the pieces which was shown.
At first Glance, I wasn't 100% happy with it 'cause immediately i could see the John Galliano and Gareth Pugh influence- with the geometric origami patterns, the dramatic styling and the silhoettes.

However, the more I look at these pieces, the more I like them. Because eventhough the influences are apparent, I also love the strong sense of the Asian culture being mixed into the westernised Silhouettes. The asian inspired embroidery which have made these pieces special and if it TRUELY is Haute Couture- meaning that it is purely hand sewn- The work which have gone into THAT is spectacular.

And the styling- the hair/makeup/accessories- is PERFECTION.

These clothes are a FANTASY...
and in the current fashion world where designers are struggling to find the balence between consumer needs VS art..
Guo is a designer who is willing to stay true to her asethetic and showed a beautiful collection which is PURELY based on Art and her vision as an artist
- just based on this deserves an honorable mention.

Eye Candy of the Week- Alek Wek

Like my Facebook Blog, which I have often featured People which I find beautiful and unique, I am going to do a weekly Feature called Beauty of the Week- People From all over the world, Both Men and Women which I personally admire , whose beauty I never get tired of looking at.

This week to begin, I have chosen a women- who I have loved since I first saw her on the runways as a kid. This women have opened my eyes to what the word "beauty" means and lead me to find beauty in Men and Women of different colours and cultural background.

Eye Candy of the Week goes to Alek Wek- A Sudanese model who first appeared on the catwalks at the age of 18 in 1995, and loved by Some of the Biggest Designers of the world such as John Galliano, Donna Karan, Valentino.

What makes Miss Alek so beautiful and be the first person to be featured in this blog?
3 reasons:
  • For showing us that Dark skin is the BEST canvas for virtually any colour of makeup or clothes- Not many other skin types or colours can wear orange or hotpink lipstick the way Alek does.
  • For proving that feminity does not only lie within women who has long flowy hair and pale skin- that women can be bold yet look so elegant/regal/feminine.
  • For teaching the world that models don't have to look angry inorder to be edgy and fierce.

The beauty of African women is that they can look feminine with a bold head and have beautiful dark skin to pull of virtually any given colour in the world.

Thanks Alek for teaching me and the world the beauty of women in your culture.
For those who do not understand this type of beauty yet, hope this entry helps you to look at beauty from a different perspective.

Jeremy Scott X Adidas 2010

Usually I am not that big a fan of atheletic gear, but I've always loved pieces which can be encorporated into fashion. After last season's success, this year, Adidas decided to colloborate with Fashion Designer Jeremy Scott again. When I first saw the pieces I am pleasently surprised by the amount of fashion elements encorporated to them. Its still quirky and has a sense of child like fantasy asethetic which is very Jeremy Scott but this time the metallic elements gives the pieces a TOUCH of a glamour edge without losing the Adidas sportswear asethetic-
Its high fashion ADIDAS
I need every piece on this page- especially the Pink Metallic "Wings" sneakers.
Instores Feb-March.
